Twenty histologic parameters were systematically assessed by a single investigator who was blinded to the clinical status of the specimens.
There were no histologic differences in tissues from live births and pregnancy losses, or in treated and untreated pregnancies.
Histologic findings in women with APS are non-specific and may not differentiate between women with APS and APS-like syndromes.

The histologic hallmark of alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency is the presence of eosinophilic globules in hepatocytes
Histologically, finely vacuolated hepatocytes and Kupffer cells are noted and, by electron microscopy, large lysosomes with lamellar concentric membranes or nonspecific granular or fibrillar material are identified.
Histologically there is variable enlargement and vacuolation of the hepatocytes, Kupffer cells, and portal tract fibroblasts, sometimes with mild involvement of biliary epithelium.

2005 Short Course #37 - Update and Application to Liver Biopsy Interpretation in Clinical Practice - Case 1
The histologic features of steatohepatitis, however, are sufficiently different from those of the chronic hepatitides as to preclude it from being placed in the same morphologic category of liver disease.
A fundamental limitation of histologic scoring is that it is not objective, and hence, is subject to intra- and inter-observer variation.
Accordingly, needle biopsy specimens, the mainstay of histologic evaluation of the liver, are subject to marked sampling variation for both the grade of necroinflammatory activity and the extent of fibrosis in chronic hepatitis.

Histologic Type   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
It is primarily through histological analysis that neoplasms are identified.
Difficulties in selecting the correct code often occur because different histological terms are used to describe the same tumor in different pathology reports or in different parts of the same report.
If a histologic or cytologic diagnosis is based only on tissue or fluid from a metastatic site, assume that the primary tumor had the same histology, and code the behavior as 3 (malignant, primary site).

The relationship between histologic chorioamnionitis and 22 single nucleotide polymorphisms in 11 immunoregulatory genes was examined in a case-control study.
There were no significant differences between those with and without histologic chorioamnionitis for maternal age, race, history of smoking, alcohol consumption, substance use, new partner, cervical cerclage, placenta praevia after 22 weeks with bleeding, history of two or more PTBs before 35 weeks, miscarriage between 12 and 20 weeks or PPROM (Table 1).
Fas protein is expressed on the surface of many cell types, such as lymphocytes, epithelial, fibroblasts and certain endothelial cells, and cytokines [7] and hormones [35] found in the placental microenvironment may modulate the immune response by regulating the expression of Fas and Fas ligand.

A Histologic Technician (sometimes called histotechnician) is one who works in a medical laboratory environment and specializes in processing sections of body tissue for examination by a physician (usually a pathologist).
Most histologic technicians are employed in hospital laboratories, clinic laboratories, or in a variety of research laboratories.
Names of accredited Schools of Histologic Technology in the area are available in the Health Professions and Technologies Department of the Southfield Campus.

One hundred and sixty five had chronic diarrhea and of these three were excluded, two with inadequate material for histologic study and one had human immunodeficiency virus.
The histologic findings in 162 patients with chronic diarrhea were arranged in agreement with their clinical and diagnostic importance.
An assessment of these 52 patients with possible diagnostic histologic abnormalities could have been made from biopsies of the distal colon (sigmoid or rectum) in 43 patients (82.7%), but, in the remaining nine patients (17.3%), the diagnosis was done only with a proximal study (ascending, transverse or descending colons).

Serum HBV DNA as a marker of efficacy during therapy for chronic HBV infection: Analysis and review of the literature
Interestingly, our analysis indicates that it is difficult to show more than a 4-point improvement in the median histologic activity index score, and this narrow range of assessable change in median histologic activity index score is responsible for the asymptotic nature of the curve.
However, histologic grading lacks the ability to rapidly discriminate differences in potency at multiple time points in clinical trials comparing active drugs or combination therapy.
Our findings support the view that viral replication is the disease and liver histologic damage is the consequence of the disease, similar to human immunodeficiency virus infection, in which viral replication is the disease and low CD4+ cell count is the consequence.

Can Cirrhotics Achieve a Histologic Response?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Among the 184 patients with paired liver biopsies, the proportion who had a histologic response was lower among the patients assigned to receive unmodified interferon (31 percent) than among those assigned to 90 µg of peginterferon alfa-2a (44 percent [P=0.22]) and those assigned to 180 µg (54 percent [P=0.02]) (Table 3).
A histologic response was seen in 26 percent, 33 percent, and 35 percent, respectively, of patients who did not have a sustained virologic response.
The histologic response also correlated with the biochemical response at week 72: 40 percent, 79 percent, and 82 percent of the patients who had a biochemical response to interferon alfa-2a or peginterferon alfa-2a at 90 µg or 180 µg, respectively, also had a histologic response.

UpToDate Histologic scoring systems for chronic liver disease
Several histologic classification systems have been proposed to minimize these uncertainties and provide a uniform standard that can be used to compare histologic findings in clinical trials.
— The Knodell score, also known as the histologic activity index (HAI), is composed of the summation of four individual scores representing periportal and/or bridging necrosis, intralobular degeneration and focal necrosis, portal inflammation, and fibrosis; the score ranges from 0 to 22 (show table 1).
Several modifications of the HAI have also appeared, which were designed, in part, to address histologic features specific to the disease under study [13-15].

Imaginis - Histologic Grades of Breast Cancer: Helping Determine a Patient's Outcome
Histology is the study of tissues, including cellular structure and function.
Pathologists (physicians who conduct laboratory studies of tissues and cells) often assign a histologic grade to a patient’s cancerous breast tumor to identify the type of tumor present and help determine the patient’s prognosis (projected outcome).
To determine a tumor’s histologic grade, pathologists examine the breast cancer cells and their patterns under a microscope.

Histologic grading and clinical staging of prostatic carcinoma   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Although the incidence of clinically diagnosed carcinoma of the prostate is second to that of cancer of the lung in US males, it ranks third as a cause of death, following cancer of the lung and cancer of the colon and rectum.
The author, together with the Veterans Administration Cooperative Urological Research Group (VACURG), devised a histologic classification of prostatic cancer which showed close correlation with mortality rates; the accumulated experience with almost 3,000 tumors from the VACURG studies confirmed that the histologic grade of the tumors is strongly correlated with the behavior of the tumors.
It is concluded that histologic grading should be incorporated routinely into the diagnosis of prostatic carcinoma.

Histology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Histopathology, the microscopic study of diseased tissue, is an important tool of anatomical pathology since accurate diagnosis of cancer and other diseases usually requires histopathological examination of samples.
Histological examination of tissues starts with surgery, biopsy or autopsy (or necropsy, in the case of animal tissues).
Artifacts are structures or features in tissue that interfere with normal histological examination.
