		Troops will use a large, twin-propeller Chinook helicopter to transport the 100-foot-long pole, which has been completely restored by local volunteers interested in its historical connection to the sailors from the Battle of Plattsburgh who are buried on the island.

	Carolinas Aviation Museum

	Fort McHenry conducts historic exercise with Japan
		USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43) recently conducted an historic bilateral transport exercise with the Japanese Defense Ship (JDS) Ohsumi (LST-4001) just off the coast here.
		The exercise was designed to enhance the maritime transport proficiency of both the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force and U.S. Navy transport vessels.
		Not only was this the first time for the U.S. and Japan to conduct a transport exercise together, it was the first time for the two countries’ LCAC's to operate side by side.
