Literature cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
One well known such cycle is the Arthurian cycle, the stories of King Arthur, Lancelot and the Knights of the Round Table.
Another cycle that is frequently drawn upon is centered on the Trojan War; the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Aeneid, and countless other epic poetry that draws on this body of tales.
Irish literature includes four cycles: the Fenian Cycle (the tales of Finn mac Cool and the Fiana); the Mythological Cycle; the Historical Cycle; and the Ulster Cycle (the tales of Cu Chulain).

Fenian Cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fenian Cycle also known as the Fionn Cycle, Finn Cycle, Fianna Cycle, Finnian Tales, Fian Tales, Féinne Cycle, Feinné Cycle, Ossianic Cycle and Fianaigecht, is a body of prose and verse centering on the exploits of the mythic hero Fionn mac Cumhaill and his warriors the Fianna Éireann.
It is one of the four major cycles of Irish mythology along with the Mythological Cycle, the Ulster Cycle, and the Historical Cycle.
The Fenian cycle is often called the Ossianic cycle because Fionn's son, Oisin, was supposed to have written most of the poems in the cycle.

However, the greatest glory of the Historical Cycle is the Buile Shuibhne (The Frenzy of Suibhne), a 12th century tale told in verse and prose.

The best-known tale of the Fenian Cycle is 'Tóraigheacht Dhiarmada agus Ghráinne' (The Pursuit of Diarmaid and Grainne), which is a later version of the Conchobar-Deirdre theme.
The Historical Cycle, or Cycle of the Kings, consists of narratives—part fact and part fiction—that chronicle the lives of kings of Ireland.
The stories of the Ulster and Fenian cycles are preserved in manuscripts dating from 1100 to the late 1300s, but their language and their references to earlier events demonstrate that the stories are remnants of a much older oral tradition.

 Primordial Maid
Part of the reason for the variation is undoubtedly that this macrocosmic pattern of the Historical Cycle is repeated microcosmically at various levels of historical movement.
Within this, the life of maid on our planet is but a small sub-cycle, yet the Historical Cycle of which we speak is, if we may put it thus, a sub-sub cycle, a cycle within the greater cycle of the duration of humankind, and perhaps another cycle within that, nested several cycles deep.
So, if we speak at times of our Historical Cycle as if it were the entire cycle of manifestation, that is entirely legitimate, for it is the perfect mirror thereof and obeys the same laws.
