Adelaide is connected to Port Wakefield Road and the Sturt Highway in the north, and the South Eastern Freeway in the South East.
Adelaide is the midpoint of the Indian Pacific railway between Perth and Sydney, as well as the terminus of The Overland to Melbourne and The Ghan via Alice Springs to Darwin.

In announcing the winners of the prize, Chair of the Board of the History Trust Phillip Broderick said: ‘The History Trust is committed to encouraging research and writing on all aspects of the history of South Australia.
She decided to seek information through oral history interviews and was inundated with responses, many of which were surprisingly frank.
