My son, Philip Derry is to have the first choice of the divisions of the said four hundred acres of land.
I have since found the Baltser Derry lease, it was in the "Piedmont" manor, which was on the east side of Short Hill Mountain, although his appears to have been right on the western boundary of the manor (which was in fact the ridge of Short Hill, referred to in the lease as "Diggs's Line".
The Derry house still stands on the large valley floor tract, and it is in fact our plan in future years to excavate around the house (we are currently working on the Demory house).
