		Kent is a county in South East England with a long history of human occupation.
		The modern name Kent is derived from the Brythonic word 'Cantus' meaning a rim or border, being applied as a name to the eastern part of the modern county, and meaning 'border land' or 'coastal district.' Julius Caesar described it as Cantium, although he did not record the inhabitants' name for themselves, in 51 BC.
		East Kent became one of the kingdoms of the Jutes during the fifth century AD (see Kingdom of Kent) and the area was later known as Cantia in around AD 730 and Cent in AD 835.

		Chancellor Kent's is one of the few non-Court of Appeals judge portraits there, although as a former Chief Justice of the New York Supreme Court (a predecessor of our Court), a Chancellor, and a scholar whose works are important to New York law, he is surely part of the Court of Appeals family.

		On February 10, 1949, Harry and Dorothy Zimmerman along with their children, Carl, Kent, and Gilbert, were occupying for the first time their new home in the Hurricane Deck area of the Lake of the Ozarks.
		It was decided to name this church in memory of Kent Zimmerman, and as a place to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ who brought life and immortality to light.
