Liverpool's home ground is the 45,400 capacity Anfield stadium, which is about three miles from the centre of Liverpool and situated on Anfield Road.
Liverpool Football Club is not to be confused with Liverpool (Rugby) Football Club which was formed in 1858 and is now known as Liverpool St. Helens.
Liverpool led the Premiership at several stages during the 1996-97 season, but in the end they finished fourth and had to settle for a UEFA Cup place.
