		Economic history is the study of economic change, and of economic phenomena in the past.
		Economic history is undertaken using both historical methods and the application of economic theory.
		The term cliometrics (a reference to Clio, the Muse of history) is used to describe the application of econometric techniques to the study of economic history.

		Economic Historians have not done much work in the study of Nigeria's indigenous economic systems before the advent of the British economic imperialists, this is perhaps due to paucity of information.
		It the defunct Communist Russian, most of the pre-1917 histories were rejected as unit for schools and universities and from 1945 the Russian Government and other communist countries began to lay greater emphasis on the study of economic history.
		The term economic history may be employed in two quite different senses: it may mean the study of the material progress of man: of man's effort to supply his material wants; to provide himself with the elementary necessities of food, clothing and shelter.

		American Economic History is a collection of 15 studies of the economic development of the United States from about 1800 to the late 1950s, written by 20 prominent and diverse 20th century thinkers.
		Schlesinger called "Ideas and the Economic Process." In it, he claims that the contribution to our unprecedented growth by the "unfettered individual," the "genius" personage of the American businessman, has been exaggerated, while the roles of public policy and the influx of ideas and capital from abroad have been diminished.

		This association between localized economic stress and a home price bust is best illustrated in the case of the oil patch cities during the mid-1980s.
		The economic stress resulting from the decline in oil prices is evident in the intermittent job loss and population outflows that characterized the oil patch cities until 1989.
