 | | According to the History of Knitting (Richard Rutt, Interweave Press 1991), there was no word meaning knitting in Ancient Greek and it wasnt until the Medieval period that words for knitting began to circulate : knitting in English, tricot in French, strikke in German and maglia in Italian. |
