 | | The first semester begins with the origins of music, the effects of the music of Greece and Rome on Western Music, the effects of medieval society and the church on Medieval Music, Renaissance Music, and Baroque Music, along with some of the effects of Non-Western traditions on the history of Western Music. |
 | | The role of music in the curriculum and the appropriate Skills and Techniques, methods of Creation and Communication, musics Cultural and Historical Connections, techniques of Aesthetic and Critical Analysis, and its Application to Life are instrinsic elements of this course. |
 | | The purpose of this course is to provide music education majors with the experience and knowledge of the theoretical knowledge of music, its composition, specialized structures, as in eighteenth-century counterpoint, which is the focus of this course, and the influence contrapuntal music has had on all forms of music. |
