In 1945 the name was changed back to the Pittsburgh Steelers,representing the heritage of Pittsburgh.The name Steelers is still being used today,and represents the Steel tradition in Pittsburgh.Not the biggest or richest NFL city, but with its blue collar fans is still one of the hardest NFL Teams to get tickets for.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the fifth oldest franchise in the NFL.

The team was renamed the Steelers in 1941 after the city's prominent steel industry to reflect the "blue-collar worker" ethic of the many Pittsburgh fans.
Pittsburgh did make history in 1938 by signing Byron White, a future justice on the U.S. Supreme Court to what was at the time the biggest contract in NFL history, but he only played one year with the Pirates before signing with the Detroit Lions.
The 2006 Steelers were the first sixth-seeded playoff team to reach and win the Super Bowl since the NFL expanded to a 12-team postseason tournament in 1990.

Yes, the Steelers won a playoff game in 1984, but other than that, the whole decade was a wash. It was so amazing to finally witness a great moment in team history again, and it was only fitting that it came on the final day of what nearly was a lost decade.

Since moving to Pittsburgh this summer, I have attended a few of the PSO’s concerts, and it is an experience not to be missed, while in Pittsburgh.
In all, a night at the PSO is a fantastic way to spend a few hours in a magnificent building and listen to one of the top symphonies in the United States.

In 1975 Harris became the first player in pro football history to rush for over 4,000 yards in his first four seasons, that year he rushed for 1,246 yards, which at the time was second best in the NFL and highest ever for a Steeler.
