 National Park Service: A Brief History of the National Park Service
For the purpose of developing coordinated and adequate public park, parkway, and recreational-area facilities for the people of the United States, the Secretary is authorized to aid the several States and political subdivisions thereof in planning such areas therein, and in cooperating with one another to accomplish these ends.
No such compact or agreement shall be effective until approved by the legislatures of the several States which are parties thereto and by the Congress of the United States.

 The Sam Rayburn Library and Museum
The fireplace immediately behind the desk was originally installed in the House of Representatives, where it remained for ninety-two years until its removal during the Capitol renovation project in the late 1940's.
It is the creation of the man who served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives longer than any other person: Sam Taliaferro Rayburn (1882-1961).
Except for two brief periods when the Republican Party controlled the House (1947-1948 and 1953-1955), Rayburn continued to serve as Speaker until his death in 1961.
