  Thanksgiving Prayer
The wife of a well-known movie star named Hobart Bosworth bought a copy of the book and really loved the poem "Thanksgiving Prayer," which emphasizes how grateful Americans are for their country.
Eleanor Roosevelt had spearheaded a women's movement of improving the cultural arts and Kathryn officially dedicated the poem to her with "sincere appreciation of her example, which causes women of today to build for tomorrow." The accompanying photo was taken upon her return (click here for original newspaper article [190K]).
Bosworth also arranged to have the poem cast on a large bronze plaque to be placed on Mt. Whitney, Calif., to be read at a Southern California Bill of Rights celebration.

THE early screen without its Bosworth would have felt the loss as keenly as latter day specials without the he-man of the films to tear them up, to lord over the deck, or rage through scenes of carnage.
Hobart Van Zandt Bosworth was born in Manefla, Ohio, August 11, 1867.
when he became President of Bosworth, Inc., which made a specialty of Jack London's stories, the first and most successful of which was "The Sea Wolf." In 1916, he filled a year's contract as a star of the Universal, going from there to the Lasky Film Company.

 Baring the Heart of Hollywood
Bosworth has had a career that is only paralleled by that of Jack London, whose intimate friend he was.
Bosworth, although a capable director and a splendid actor, had no head for figures, and he took Garbutt's word that the company, although the Sea Wolf was a most successful picture, was losing money.
During the life of the corporations Garbutt succeeded in estranging London and Bosworth and it was not until after the death of London that Bosworth learned from his widow the cause of the coolness.

DuBarry, Woman of Passion : a review
Based on a 1901 Belasco play marked by long-winded rants and incoherent character development, it was absolutely the wrong vehicle for Talmadge at this stage of her career.
Old veteran stage actors William Farnum (King Louis) and Hobart Bosworth (Captain of the Guard) had their early professional experiences in this sort of barnstormer, and they tear into their lines and chew the scenery with a relish that is both authoritative and stylistically appropriate to the piece.
Farnum's gleeful hamminess and Bosworth's stern severity are the best things about the film, and they leave the other principals in the dust.

None of the acting, except Hobart Bosworth, is truly as pompous as might be expected.
