 Trio by Dolly Parton CD
A classic modern country album, THE TRIO is as pretty as music gets.
From the ultra-pretty Phil Spector pop classic "To Know Him Is To Love Him" to the hard-country Jimmie Rodgers song "Hobo's Meditation" and the high-lonesome "Memories Of You," THE TRIO brims with musicality.
But THE TRIO offers something more, gathering songs that not only utilize their natural singing talents but also bring out the emotional timbre of their collective voice.

The highlight of the album is certainly the opening track "Crying At Airports," which is about a short lived fantasy about a trip, in which the lead singer Cia's voice attains that universal sweetness that just has to be adored.
With their second album All Disco Dance Must End in Broken Bones, Whale proves everybody wrong by presenting to the world a solid record that clearly demonstrates their growth and development.
When Sweden's Whale burst onto the music scene a few years ago with their ragged garage funk rampage "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe," just about everyone considered them a one hit wonder that was soon to be forgotten.

Only A Hobo - Dave Alvin
Alvin is a master storyteller, and all of the songs on the new album combine a modern folk style with elements of traditional folk, blues, rock, and country music.
His first albums on HighTone, 1991's Blue Blvd. ("Haley's Comet," "Wanda and Duane," "Dry River") and 1993's Museum of Heart ("Thirty Dollar Room," "Six Nights a Week") were similar landmarks of progress.
In the years since Dave Alvin formed the much-lauded seminal L.A. roots-rock band, The Blasters, with his brother Phil in 1979, each album has shown a marked creative progression as he develops his skills as a songwriter, musician and singer.

Willie P. Bennett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His early albums were produced by David Essig ; the recording engineer for his 1977 album Hobo's Taunt was Daniel Lanois.
While commonly regarded as a major talent, Bennett did not become as famous as his contemporaries until 1996, when Stephen Fearing, Colin Linden and Tom Wilson formed Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, a supergroup named for Bennett's 1978 album, to record a tribute album of Bennett's songs.
Bennett was part of the 1970s folk music scene in Canada, alongside figures such as Bruce Cockburn, Stan Rogers and David Wiffen.

Amazon.com: Music: Talkin Honky Blues [IMPORT]
One part talking blues, one part hip-hop and one part hobo storytelling, Talkin' Honky Blues stumbles along riverbanks, seemingly insignificant rural roads and through the streets of Paris, where Buck was called by Anais Nin's novella, Houseboat.
Sporting quite possibly some of the greatest lyrics you've ever heard, this album is just a pleasure to listen to, a classic, weathered, world-weary album.
I absolutely loved Buck's concept album 'Square', which was atmospheric and made up of four extremely long, flowing tracks, and a lyrical focus.

I think "Sniper & Other Love Songs" is much stronger than "Heads & Tales," the album which had "Taxi," the song that got Harry Chapin on the radio.
Another revised song from earlier days, it is reminiscent of "Any Old Kinda Day" from the first album, with it's poignant definition of inner-city solitude.
However, I would not say it is a great album, but rather that it has a couple of really great songs.

John Cale - Hobo Sapiens - Stylus Magazine
While unfair to both, Cale can take heart; Sweet Lou's Evil Empire has hit rock bottom of late, what with his hideous Poe concept album and a decade's worth of songs about old-people sex with Laurie Anderson (all delivered in his tiresomely one-dimensional "authentic" rock settings).
And with about half the album dedicated to the type of deconstructionist/subtractive approach Cale debuted on his 1982 masterpiece, Music for a New Society, there might be others that reveal themselves with successive listens.
Equally intriguing is the mysterious "Caravan," where Cale pits the sonorous harmonies of his beloved Beach Boys against the drone of Talking Heads' "The Overload" (itself, a rip on Cale's mid-70's work).

There is room in your life for this tricky little hobo, so make the effort to listen to his music and see his live shows, consider it a challenge, because Buck 65, like this album, is full of surprises.
As an introduction to Buck 65 (and dare I say...it intelligent hip hop) this album will more than satisfy, but don't be afraid to go back and listen any of his previous releases: Synesthesia, Weirdo Magnet and Square, to name but a few, are wonderful, devious and quite possibly artful.
Buck 65's voice and sound has matured considerably again, even after Square, his most previous opus, which finally saw him get recognition from critics, and i havent heard a bad word about him since.

"Siren Song of the Counter Culture," Rise Against
On this, Rise Against's third album, Tim McIlrath proves he's equally capable of singing and screaming, without sacrificing clarity or losing force.
The latest release from Rise Against is driven by a locomotive of punk fury pulling boxcars full of finger-pointing lyrics down the railroad tracks of social and political consciousness -- slowing only once to let a love-hobo hop on for the tender ballad "Swing Life Away."
Few bands have been able to make an album with an agenda that leaves you fired up without compromising the integrity of aggressive punk, but with this release, Rise Against has succeeded with its message and its music.

There can be little doubt that the first full-length album by singer-songwriter Jason Voss will one day be regarded as one of the most influential hobo-centric post-folk albums of its time (that time being the year 2004).
The "deadly medley" that composes tracks three through six of the album feature guest vocals by Patrick Elkins, Jib Kidder and Eliza Godfrey.
Jib Kidder's debut for We're Twins finds him ditching the electronics and beats that characterize much of his work and venturing into acoustic territory, with twelve small and beautiful love songs based mostly on string instruments.

Listening to Hobo and talking with Billy Bob Thornton, it is surprisingly obvious that over the last 25 years he has come to find Los Angeles alluring and full of character.

Those familiar with Billy Bob Thornton's persona as it has been sold to the public may be surprised to hear that he's found his muse not in the rural South of his youth but in the glitzy streets of Los Angeles.
