The Hoboken waterfront is the western shore of the Hudson from Newark Street to Stevens Institute of Technology, sandwiched by the Lincoln Tunnel to the north and the Holland Tunnel to the south, directly across from Lower Manhattan's Canal Street.
Hoboken was once known as the city with "a bar on every corner" and in fact was once listed in Guinness Book of Records as the city with "Most bars in a square mile".

In addition to cleaner water, the completion of the projects means the city will be able to reopen several streets that were closed for the better part of a year.
The first project is located north of the ferry terminal near the end of Newark Street, the second is just north of the 333 River St. residential building at Fourth Street and Sinatra Drive South, and the third is near the corner of 11th and Hudson streets.
The three projects in Hoboken are called "solid floatable chambers" and are designed to reduce or eliminate the visible solid waste that is often present in CSO discharges.

Both the City of Hoboken and a citizens' organization called the Hudson County Alliance have filed appeals of a dismissal of their suit against the developer of two 17-story towers at 101 Marshall St. on the city's southwestern border.
The first obstacle is that the project was approved back in 1998, meaning that it is going to be exceedingly difficult to argue that the statute of limitations hasn't run out.
Members of the Hudson County Alliance have stated in previous reports that the organization's resistance to the project is due to both possible improprieties in securing variances and permits and also the traffic and flooding problems the complex may cause.

These projects, proposed for Hoboken's waterfront, included a 725-car parking garage, the Center for Maritime Systems, and a soccer field and running track.
Stevens is especially eager to change the ordinance pertaining to the parking garage which has involved the excavation of more than 35,000 tons of serpentine rock beginning in March of 2002 and the extensive construction of decks, walls and ramps for the parking structure over the past five months.
Both of these regulators have rejected similar projects because of the substantial portion of the Hudson River that would be shadowed by such a structure.
