Hawkwell is a village and civil parish in the district of Rochford in Essex, England.
Hockley City, where the Littlefield Lands Company sold 464 farm tracts between 1912 and 1920, was renamed Levelland in 1922; the Slaughter heirs began selling farmland in the northwestern part of the country near Whiteface in 1924.

Hockley Village (or more commonly, just Hockley) is an area near the centre of Nottingham, UK, adjacent to the Lace Market.
However, it has not always been quite as pleasant as it is now: Sir Jesse Boot, son of the founder of the Boots Company and the man most responsible for turning it into the pharmaceutical empire it is today, was born in poverty in the area in 1850.
Hockley, with its galleries, design, fashion, New Age, and record shops, has been called "so sure of its own style and sense of community that its pavement cafes don't even hint at self-consciousness".

Unfortunately there are many derelict buildings within the Jewellery Quarter which were formerly occupied by people like Lucas, Cannings, Swan, Rabone Chesterman, Tenby Electrical and others and through no fault of the Jewellery Trade some of these are now deserted and need to be brought into useful service again.
Under the Urban Village Plan there is a restriction of 2000 residential apartments and new build must be limited to 2/4 storeys high, and follow the local street scene in character and building materials.
With the added restrictions imposed by being declared a Conservation Area and with many listed buildings, I feel that the work being carried out by the Jewellery Quarter Management Plan is a big step forward in preserving the Jewellery Quarter, its History and its trades.
