Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unlike the Hohenzollerns of Brandenburg, the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringens and their cousins of Hohenzollern-Hechingen, the seniormost branch of the House of Hohenzollern, remained Catholic.
Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen is the cadet branch of the senior Swabian branch of the Hohenzollern dynasty, less known however than the Franconian branch which became Burgraves of Nuremberg and later ruled Brandenburg, Prussia and ultimately Germany in the centuries to 1918.

Michael I of Romania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although he maintains that his abdication in 1947 occurred under duress, and that he remains the lawful King of Romania in exile, he adopted the title Prince Michael of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (the Romanian royal family originally formed a branch of the Prussian/German House of Hohenzollern).
In an effort to ensure the continuity of the Hohenzollern claim, Michael issued and published in Bucharest what he called a new Family Law on 30 December 1997 (the 50th anniversary of his deposition), allowing females to succeed.
Michael has no son, and the 1923 Romanian constitution excluded women from the succession to the throne (as well as prohibiting succession rights to the throne from transferring through a woman).
