HOLDEN has a lot riding on the new Captiva 4WD wagon. This Australian-developed and Korean-sourced SUV takes over from where the poorly performing Adventra left off, adopting the "big wagon" style of the medium SUV brigade, with a tall body, upright high seating position and compact dimensions.
Holden launched a one-tonner version of the HQ ute in the early '70s, but the model returned after the WB's '85 demise in '04 VZ Commodore One Tonner guise.

In 1978 Holden had introduced a Commodore that was perceptibly smaller than its rival in response to economic woes and fuel crises.

Kingswood Country was an Australian sitcom that screened from 1980 to 1984.
He lives for three things: his beloved chair in front of the TV, his unsuccessful racing greyhounds and his worshipped Holden Kingswood car (late in the show's run Ted traded-in the Kingswood, which had gone out of production around the time the series began, for Holden's replacement mid-range family car, the Commodore).
His long-suffering wife, the vague and dithering Thelma (Judi Farr), was cast as a traditional housewife trapped by Ted's conservative family views, but she often got her own back on Ted.

Following on from the HX was the last of the line for the traditional large Holden sedans, the wonderful HZ.
The "Kingswood" name would live on in the HZ, but the "Belmont" was dropped, and a more upmarket "Kingswood SL" introduced.

Holden - HOLDEN UTE AN INVESTMENT
Fans of the humble Holden ute spent a few years in the wilderness between when Holden axed the WB ute and introduced the latter day version in Commodore guise.
And that's really the Holden ute story; a vehicle that's so popular that the repair and replacement parts makers have actually bothered to develop specific bits and pieces to keep the vehicles running.
While a, say, 1975 Holden Kingswood sedan in good condition is probably a $2000 to $2500 proposition, the equivalent ute in anything like roadworthy condition will carry a price tag perhaps three times that.

Ted's idea of heaven is sitting in front of the box, thinking about his Kingswood and lamenting about the lack of success of his racing greyhounds.
Although an out and out hilarious sitcom Kingswood Country actually works well as a glimpse into a time of change for Australia when multicultaralism and reform of all kinds, of course Ted steadfastly refuses to adapt to any of this.
By the time the series ended the Holden Kingswood was no longer in production so Ted traded his in for the new family car the Holden Commodore.
