This is something Love acknowledges tacitly, by performing as part of a band named Hole instead of as a solo artist, and overtly, by writing the music to her songs collaboratively.
In a way, that underlying sense of hope is also what connects Love to a band like Echo and the Bunnymen: things may be fucked, you may be fucked, the whole world may be fucked, but a great rock song can change all that for a few minutes, a great album for an hour.

By the time Love formed Hole with Eric Erlandson in 1989, she had already appeared as a vocalist in an early incarnation of San Francisco’s Faith No More and in the Minneapolis all-girl band, Sugar Baby Doll, with Babes in Toyland’s Kat Bjelland and L7’s Jennifer Finch.
Hole began garnering the attention of the U.S. underground via the band’s incendiary live performances and two early singles, “Dicknail” and “Retard Girl.” Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Gumball’s Don Fleming coproduced the acerbic debut album, Pretty on the Inside.
Hole was seemingly put on hold, however, during Love’s courtship with and eventual marriage to Cobain (on February 24, 1992).

His impact, and influence -- on punk and garage revival bands, in particular -- continues to spread worldwide, due to Collins' incessant touring schedule, as well as a flurry of releases by his various bands on indie labels, foreign and domestic, including In the Red, Crypt, Estrus, and Fall of Rome.
In 1997, Collins was producing the Red Aunts' Ghetto Blaster album, and soon a musical partnership with vocalist/guitarist Terri Wahl led to them forming a harder punk-style group, the Screws, with Marty Moore and Dan Brown (both from the Jacksonville, FL, duo Johnny Hash and ex-68 Comeback).
Along with Kroha (the Dirtbombs, the Demolition Doll Rods), Collins produced Andre Williams' 1998 comeback album, Silky, as well as his 2000 album, Andre Williams Is the Black Godfather, for In the Red.

 Hole crystals
Interestingly, these hole crystals have a lot in common with distant exotic stellar objects such as White Dwarf stars and neutron stars: they also are thought to contain a lattice of heavy particles (ions) immersed into a sea of electrons.
Yet in contrast to the latter, crystallization of the hole crystal can, in principle, be turned on and off: by "bending" the hole energy band (increasing its curvature) one can lower the hole mass, see the sketch in the figure.
In contrast, the configuration of the holes is modified as a result of a continuous increase of the valence band curvature (corresponding to cases A, B, C above).
