Holiday Inn is indeed one of those films that highlights the season and the seasons after.
Yes, the film appears somewhat outdated and politically incorrect (the scene with Crosby and one of his female cohorts singing and dancing with fl painted faces) and campy at times, but at the time, it was all fun.
At the time the film was made, there was a need to provide moviegoers the opportunity to forget their worries and come to 'Holiday Inn.' So, I recommend this classic musical for its simplicity and musical numbers.

The idea behind Paramount's "Holiday Inn" couldn't be simpler nor more "old Hollywood" -- the musical tale of a simple crooner (Bing Crosby) who spars with his flashy dancing rival (Fred Astaire) at a holiday-themed nightclub in the sticks.
In fact, I'd argue that "Holiday Inn" is more Fred's show than Bing's -- spinning graceful floor routines and a classic firecracker tap for the Fourth of July that doubles as obvious patriotic wartime fare.
Call it old-fashioned or old Hollywood fluff, "Holiday Inn" is a sweet, pleasant slice of another time in pop entertainment.

Primarily though, any film which features "White Christmas" is going to hit a high note at that point, even if it is just being crooned by Crosby.
