		Chicago-born singer/guitarist Holly B. Vincent formed her band in Los Angeles, but it took a 1979 move to England to secure a recording deal.
		The Right to Be Italian wasn't a commercial success and Holly broke up the band, opting instead for a solo career.
		Holly and the Italians plays up her voice and songs, providing ample room for far-reaching emotional expression; the striking, atmospheric music is based on violin and keyboards as much as guitar.

		I have both Holly and the Italians LPs (in storage) and had forgotten how awesome this album was/is. I was blown away from the opening of "I wanna go Home" - "Some people achieve greatness.
		I bought both the Holly And The Italians albums working in a record shop in the early eighties and loved both and this, their first is a very tight band playing great rock with a sassy attitude that should have garnered more promotion on the part of the record company.
		Holly's guitar work is tight and aggressive and her voice is so dynamic that there aren't words to describe how great it is. This is great music to play at a party or just solo listening.

	Seduction Reviews - Manda and the Marbles
		The sound takes me back to the 80's, although even sans keyboard the new wave melodies jam you from all sides....Think Holly and the Italians vocally, and the Go Gos musically....this is probably going to be one of the five best CD's I'll review for this issue.
		Manda and her fellow marbles add an 80's new wave sound (sans the keyboard based synth-pop) to a 70's influenced punk/pop spirit which brings to mind classic favorites like the Go-Go's and The Bangles.
		However, the band is more often compared to Holly and the Italians, and no doubt this comparision has been fueled even further with the band's terrific cover of "Wanna Go Home".

		Holly re-appeared as a solo artist under her full name and 'Transvision Vamp' recoreded 'Tell That Girl TO Shut Up' as a single and on the album 'Pop Art'.

		A four-piece New York ensemble circa 1981, Holly and the Italians released a number of singles - including the hit "Tell That Girl To Shut Up" - as well as one album, The Right To Be Italian through Virgin records.
		Holly went on to become the lead singer and songwriter for The Oblivious; she also played briefly with the Waitresses.

	Croatian Glagolitic Script
		There are Italian and Latin translations from Croatian dating from the 16th century, which kept the original Croatian names for many places, proof that the population in the Istrian hinterland was dominantly Croatian.
		A Czech chronicler Pulkava from 14th century (died in 1380) mentions that "to this day bishops, as well as priests, serve the Holly Mass and other rituals in their slavic language in archbishoprics and provinces of Split, Dubrovnik and Zadar." See [Strgacic].
		It is interesting that several editions were printed for Italians living in Istria (of course, in Italian and in the Latin script).

		Plus, the band even covers Holly and the Italians' "Wanna Go Home." But Seduction is not pure retro fascination.
		Perfectly bittersweet tunes longing for the past (a cover of obscure early '80s singer Holly Beth Vincent's "I Wanna Go Home"), a relationship gone sour ("Through") or warning of the dangers of excess ("Dead By Dawn") mingle with plenty of tunes about coy seduction and sly romance ("Sudden Attraction," "Sex Object").
		Like everybody else that heard it, I fell into a dreamy kind of love/lust with the ultra-catchy, tough chick power-pop of the Marbles' last record "Seduction", so I was excited to hear the next installment.

		Early in St. Francis' life, the Benedictines had given him this tiny chapel for his use near Assisi.
		The chapel, ruined and in need of repair, was located on what the Italians called a porziuncola or "very small parcel of land." Painted on the wall behind the altar was a fresco of the Virgin Mary surrounded by angels.
		Now contained within a Basilica, the chapel was named Saint Mary of the Angels at the Little Portion.
