Character actor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A character actor is an actor who predominantly performs supporting parts, often in similar roles throughout the course of a career.
Some character actors have distinctive voices or accents which in the opinion of casting directors limit their suitability for most leading roles; actors such as James Earl Jones, Selma Diamond and Julie Kavner have been able to turn this to their advantage, often in voice-over work.
This notwithstanding, a hallmark of many great character actors is that their names are not widely known yet their faces or voices are instantly recognizable; Paul Henreid, Sydney Greenstreet, or Barry Fitzgerald are some examples.

Hollywood Montrose - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hollywood works at a Philadelphia department store called Prince and Company overseeing the care of mannequins, including the one who comes to life at night, played by Kim Cattrall.
Hollywood's best friend is a night-time display designer (played by Andrew McCarthy) who discovers that the mannequin (whom he created) was actually once a real-life princess from ancient Egypt and falls in love with her.
Hollywood was known for his artistic side: a fashion expert who likes to wear pink sunglasses at all times, Hollywood liked to dress his "subjects" (the store's mannequins) in flashy outfits, and he often wears purple suits.

 Classical Hollywood Cinema
Hollywood films, as opposed to art films or some types of foreign films, embrace a narrative that is highly economic and that is determined by cause and effect.
The character's main drive or goal is generally countered with a conflict, which is usually introduced into the plot quite early on.

Epinions.com - Hollywood On Drugs: Narcotic Realism
Hollywood could then say that since this film may be displaying a sense of narcotic realism, it is not narcotic realism because the visual abstractness is only being used to represent the visual flashbacks that the narrator remembers.
Although the characters in the film experience death and tragedy as a result of their addiction, by showing the usage of drugs and the visual representations that are a result of being on drugs, the film was labeled as glorifying and promoting drug usage.
Characters fade into scenes “simulating the effect of a stoned person’s gradually taking in the presence of someone new”, religious figures speak wisdom, and there even lies a constant musical drone throughout the movie, which acts as a constant heartbeat in-between beats.

Rarely, if ever, has a character ever been portrayed that showed the desire, hope, and passion to reach the lost for Jesus as does Sonny in The Apostle: From the poor, who have groceries delivered to their doorstep, to the African Americans who in the deep south in Louisiana rarely worship with Whites.
This character also displays his love for the lost in showing a tremendous act of love towards the one individual who totally hates what this church stands for, in the character of Billy Bob Thornton.
Characters in television or in the movies who have some sort of religious faith are usually presented as either intolerant, hypocritical bigots or milquetoast sentimentalists.

How Hollywood Imagines American Presidents   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
Hollywood's depiction of American presidents is by and large a record of failure.
But image obviously is a factor and because it is the presidency and Hollywood have come to seem like two very similar institutions, despite their obvious differences.
Hollywood is not responsible for the preoccupation of presidents with image; presidents have always been concerned with their image, none more so than the first, Washington, who understood that he was most useful as a symbol of national unity.
