Tom Petty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After working with his early bands The Sundowners, The Epics, and Mudcrutch (which also included future Heartbreakers members Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench) he began his recording career with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers when the band broke onto the national music scene with their 1976 self-titled debut album.
After the dispute was settled, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their third album Damn the Torpedoes (1979) that rapidly became triple-platinum.
The band's live capabilities were put to the test when Bob Dylan invited Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to join him on his True Confessions tour through the US, Australia, Japan (1986) and Europe (1987).

Tom Petty - The Last DJ
The Heartbreakers nailed it early with "Free Fallin'." The chorus is anthemic, but Petty sang it like a cheer and the crowd followed suit.
Another part of it could be that the Heartbreakers are one of the most solid units in rock — an airtight assembly of musicians led by Campbell's sinewy guitar leads, colored by Tench's piano and anchored by Ferrone's sturdy stomp.
Opening with the album's title track, which laments the disappearance of disc jockeys who are allowed to determine their own set lists and speak their mind on the radio, Petty immediately had the audience in his pocket with his smooth, seductive take on old-school rock and roll.

The young woman as a vampish siren, luring gullible lumps of testosterone to their inevitable demise, is a well-worn cinematic theme.
Heartbreakers features a double-whammy: a sultry, amply-bosomed nymphet, sporting a sequence of ever-plunging necklines and skirts not so much brief as instantaneous, and a mature vixen who exudes sex appeal as effortlessly as exhaling.

 filmcritic.com Movie Review: Heartbreakers
The problem with a movie like Heartbreakers is that as hard as you try to concentrate on the notable qualities of the film -- the clever camerawork, the strong ensemble acting, the deft script -- every time Jennifer Love Hewitt walks into a scene, her breasts take over.
Jason Lee, one of the best young actors working in Hollywood these days, brings a warm, subtle touch to his role of the lovelorn bar owner head-over-heels in love with Page.

She decides to pursue another target unbeknownst to Mom, settling on a momma’s boy who quickly proves unworkable, but not before she meets the man of her dreams, a bar owner whose casual establishment is worth $3 million to developers.
The problem is, he seems to be a decent guy, and the Hollywood grifter code forbids stealing money from people who aren’t evil and corrupt, because then you might actually be a criminal instead of a couple of nice girls who have been led astray by circumstances beyond their control.
Stunningly mediocre, Heartbreakers is an aberration in the careers of its distinguished veteran stars and, we have the right to hope, not representative of the abilities of its younger ones.
