At an early day, Holton made some attempts to develop a municipal government, but by an act of the Legislature of 1871, it was organized as a city of the third class; its first Mayor being T. Adamson; its Councilmen, Ira I. Taber, Ed.
Holton, from the rude hamlet of two decades ago, presents in 1882 a very metropolitan aspect, and is in fact a beautiful, progressive city.

Then renamed Camp Reno in 1864 in memory of General Jesse L. Reno, killed Sept. 14, 1862 at the battle of South Mountain, Va., In 1861, shortly after the outbreak of the Civil War, Camp Reno was established on rented land as a reception center and training post in the city of Milwaukee.
Occupying 42 acres extending from University Avenue to Monroe Street, between Breeze Terrace and Randall Avenue, the acreage was donated in 1861 by the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society to the state legislature as a drill ground for Union troops.
The camp became the center of Wisconsin military activities, and more than 70,000 men were quartered and trained here.

Yes, I play a Holton BB-345, and have amassed considerable playing time on it since I bought it 14 months ago, at least within the parameters of being a hobbyist.
It was manufactured by Holton in Elkhart, Wisconsin, and here is where I think you're asking a different question than you think you are.
You're asking about new Holtons, such as the BB-346R, which is a Yamaha (321?), and the TU-331BB, which is made by Holton in Elkhart, but which is a smaller Harvey Phillips model.
