 christianity: Holy books and policy
Holy books should not be used to determine govt policy.
All governments have "holy books" from which they gain their doctrine, be they works of Moses, Muhammed or John Rawls.
The problem here isn't "holy books." I think if most people applied the teachings of their holy books to their lives, and let that influence their political motives, we'd live in a better world.

The holy books were meant to be records of religion so that the various people and nations of the world might refer to them to know the ordinances and laws revealed by Allah and comply with them.
Although books revealed to prophets before Muhammad (the last Messenger of Allah) were just temporary revelations each addressed to a particular tribe or nation, yet it is incumbent upon by Muslims to believe in them in general, and in the Qur'an on detailed basis in particular.
It is the only book of Allah which has remained free from distortion and change, and has been transmitted to us whole in the most reliable ways and in its original text-a feature not enjoyed by any of the earlier books of revelation.

When I began describing the contents of this book to a family member, she quickly mentioned "The Da Vinci Code." I now see that Brown's book apparently borrowed its plot from "Holy Blood, Holy Grail," thereby bringing this esoteric theory about Christ, the Merovingian dynasty, and Mary Magdalene to a new generation of readers.
Holy Blood, Holy Grail does, however, tend to repeat itself in numerous places, some may be warrented, but in some cases it appeared to be used to 'pad' the book out.
This book uses a wealth of historical documents and ancient evidence to support its controversial theories on the Holy Grail and Mary Magdalene and I highly recommend it.

Although the title of the book may suggest that it is about questions of knowledge and truth – which indeed, to some extent, it is – it does not sufficiently convey the deeply serious moral force of Dawkins’ arguments.

Supernatural Divine Revelation. Holy Tradition and Holy Scripture
The books of the Holy Scripture, written by various people at different times, are divided into two parts, the books of the Old Testament, and those of the New Testament.
All of these holy books are known by the Biblical word "testament," because the word means testimony, and the Divine teaching contained in them is the testimony of God to mankind.
The books of both the New Testament and the Old Testament appeared by God’s revelation, were written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and are therefore called divinely inspired.
