The Holy Land Foundation is an Islamic charity in the United States and claims to be the largest in that country.
Among the founders of the Holy Land Foundation is Mousa Abu Marzook, a political leader of Hamas, deported from the United States to Jordan in 1997.
In December, 2004, a federal judge in the U.S. city of Chicago ruled that the Holy Land Foundation (along with the Islamic Association of Palestine) was liable for a $156 million dollar lawsuit for aiding and abetting the terror group Hamas in the death of a 17-year-old American citizen.

HLF East remained a member of the Passaic Food Coalition for most of its existence, although it was suspended briefly in 2000.
HLF was founded in 1987 in Los Angeles, California as the Occupied Land Fund to raise funds for what it viewed as Muslim victims of the Palestinian uprising, by its President and CEO, Shukri A. Baker.
HLF representatives do not deny the fact that it gives money to the orphans and widows of Hamas activists but claim that the money is given on the basis of need and not the political affiliation of the deceased.
