Holy Living and Holy Dying - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to historian Nancy Lee Beaty (1970, The Craft of Dying: A Study in the Literary Tradition of the Ars Moriendi in England), Holy Dying was the "artistic climax" of a consolatory death literature tradition that had begun with Ars moriendi in the 15th century.
Holy Dying is meant to instruct the reader in the "means and instruments" of preparing for a blessed death.
Holy Living is the less interesting but more useful of the two books, being largely concerned with questions of practical morality, of a type that have hardly changed from the 1600s to today.

 Holy Living Sacrifice
While the heart of the celebration of the Eucharist is the Eucharistic Prayer, the consummation of the Mass is found in Holy Communion, whereby the people purchased for the Father by his beloved Son eat and drink the Body and Blood of Christ.
The practice of Holy Communion under both kinds at Mass continued until the late eleventh century, when the custom of distributing the Eucharist to the faithful under the form of bread alone began to grow.
In the case of the Distribution of Holy Communion under both kinds, how restored in the Latin Church, Christian faith in the real presence of Christ can only be renewed and deepened in the life of the faithful by this esteemed practice.

Both works remind us that dying is an inevitable part of life that can be met with holiness, dignity, and grace.
