 | | Through examining the varying features of these two pieces of art, one can see the congruency of the ideas of the two cultures, as well as their divergence in pictorial representations of similar iconography. |
 | | Whereas both depict a scene from the passion of Christ, Masaccio’s Holy Trinity creates a sense of balance, and order, whereas the Deposition conveys a more emotionally charged scene. |
 | | Also, whereas the art in Italy at this time was engaged in a true renaissance (an interest in antiquity, a love of geometry, symmetry and perspective etc…), the art in the north focused on different aspects of painting. |
