 HOMAGE - Definition
Homage was originally the act of a feudal tenant by which he declared himself, on his knees, to be the hommage or bondman of the lord; hence the term is used to denote reverential submission or respect.
Fealty was originally the fidelity of such a tenant to his lord, and hence the term denotes a faithful and solemn adherence to the obligations we owe to superior power or authority.

The Ceremonies of Homage and Fealty
Also, if a woman sole shall do homage, she shall not say, 'I become your woman'; for it is not fitting that a woman should say, that she will become a woman to any man, but to her husband, when she is married.
But she shall say, 'I do to you homage, and to you shall be faithful and true, and faith to you shall bear for the tenements I hold of you, saving the faith I owe to our sovereign lord the king.' [.
And there is great diversity between the doing of fealty and of homage; for homage cannot be done to any but to the lord himself; but the steward of the lord's court, or bailiff, may take fealty for the lord.

On the literary level, "Homage to Switzerland" develops in microcosm the sensibility of reticence and mental avoidance characterizing the male protagonists of such Hemingway novels as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, and For Whom the Bell Tolls, as well as of certain short stories.
The "laconic conversational tone" (Meyers ls) of all three men, betraying a distrust of language's capacity to express truth in a social context as well as a reluctance to confront emotional reality, is part of the disturbed-but-stoic philosophy of the Hemingway protagonist.
By restricting Part I of "Homage to Switzerland" to external description until Wheeler goes outside, Hemingway implies that his protagonist is trying to block self-probing thoughts.

While there is perhaps a touch of coloration involved in the voicing of the Homage, and I'm talking a very small nudge in the direction of warmth, it is so artfully blended into the presentation, that it simply doesn't interfere with its ability to reveal a ton of information.
With the Homage comes a textural vibrancy, a fission of energy and sense of life that is difficult to describe yet undeniable to the ear.
While the Homage could never be called slow or smeared in the bass, it possesses more bloom and less sheer wallop than say, the Wilson Watt Puppy 7, BandW 800 Signature or the Talon Khorus X. When Sonus Faber's Franco Serblin began creating his Homage series of loudspeakers (footnote 1) to honor the great violin makers of Cremona—Amati, Guarneri, Stradivari—his design inspiration curiously turned out to be not the violin but the lute.
The rear-ported woofers are tuned using the entire internal volume of the enclosure, while the tweeter and the ported midrange unit are contained in a substantially braced, cardioid (heart-shaped) subenclosure, compression-held in place by the main enclosure walls.
The main enclosure is constructed using a wood laminate, with constrictive damping inserts in between additional front-panel layers of laminate, in the style of the Amati Homage, which was built of stacks of solid maple.
