CANOE -- JAM! Music: THE LOUDNESS
That simple, homespun philosophy handily defines The Loudness, a two-disc compilation of new and classic rock tracks united by one common element: Volume.
If it's loud 'n' proud, it's here, from retro-rock ear-bleeders like Nazareth's Hair of the Dog, Deep Purple's Woman from Tokyo and ZZ Top's Tush to contemporary contenders like The Darkness's I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Jet's Are You Gonna be My Girl and even hometown boys The Waking Eyes' Watch Your Money.
No, it isn't even close to complete -- but it is completely entertaining.

Like the frat boy in the Energizer commercial who swears off dating girls named after states because of a bad experience with a Georgia, Seattle should stay the heck away from any and every Rodriguez.
With a good chunk of the "old guard" set to fall off the payroll next year (Wilson, Olerud, Martinez), the Mariners have to be thinking ahead and would do well to invest in a young, marquee player to build the rest of the club around.
Oh, but that would be conniving, deceptive and would tarnish the boy scout image of the organization.

Their cry of "anti-competitive" is only true if you assume that there are no other competing technologies.
I can see why the Post would pick up the refrain to boost the hometown boys, especially given the jobs at stake, but with cable companies, satellite companies, VOIP, all out there, the idea that anyone's market position is unassailable or even particularly stable is short-sighted.
The only thing they can do is to sow uncertainty in MCI shareholders that the Verizon deal would get regulatory approval.
