  Homoglyph at AllExperts
In typography, a homoglyph is one of a pair of characters with shapes that are either identical, or cannot be differentiated by quick visual inspection.
The term homograph is sometimes used synonymously with homoglyph, but it must be noted that the typographic sense of this term is not included in the definition normally applied in linguistic discourse.
This has led to the mistaken supposition that the word 'The' was formerly written and pronounced as 'Ye', as in 'Ye olde shoppe', instead of the intended 'Þe olde shoppe' (discussed in detail in a separate article on the thorn).

These homoglyphs are cases where the underlying domain names are quite distinct, yet their screen appearance is indistinguishable.
In the first case the domain name www.paypal.com is resolved in the DNS with the query string www.paypal.com, yet the second the query string www.paypal.com is translated by the application to the DNS query string www.xn--pypal-4ve.com.
When this homoglyph issue was first exposed, the response from a number of browsers was to turn off all IDN support in their browser.

 Re: NFS4 requires UTF-8
There are lots of ways to implement this in a But nothing with tab completion can fix the fact that I can't enter this by typing "Müller", and I don't see a good fix at all for that.
This isn't quite the same as the homoglyph problem.
I suspect that, like homoglyphs, there is no good fix, but I think this should be considered independently.

Cocobanana Beach travel guide - Wikitravel
Cocobanana Beach is, of course, famed for its vast expanse of white sand and its bevy of Serriffean lovelies wearing only Flong thongs, a garment prepared from coconut husk that can also be used to remove pieces of swarfega from between your teeth.
It should, however, be noted that the Flong thongs are traditionally worn only by men who have passed the demanding initiation rites of the Very Brotherly Fraternity of the Homoglyph, and women usually opt for burlap sacks, or go naked, instead.
Cocobanana has suffered somewhat from development recently, with some residents objecting that the giant boulders of rock dumped from the nearby quarry onto the beach detract from the scenic beauty.

Whats a Poem: A Closer Look
Definitions can be cut only as fine as the need.
But even intuitively among the distinterested, there's a clear dichotomy between poetry and verse -- just like there can be the general word cow or and the homoglyph cow that connotes the female, no one is confused on what is what.
Even though the general word is poetry, a particular beast, like limerick, is verse.

However, these language domains need not be top level domains.

And two words that are pronounced and spelled the same but mean different things are called homonyms.
The terms "homoglyph" and "hetymon" are also occasionally used as synonyms for "homomorph." ("Hetymon" being a portmanteau word roughly short for hetero-etymon, a neologism intended to mean "different source words.")
A strong homomorph has at least two same-part-of-speech meanings.
