Homosapien was a super-sad event upon its release in 1981.
Buzzcocks fans were aware that the songs were originally intended for the band's fourth LP (even though some, such as the underground hit title track, had been composed before the band began) -- a new work that was set to continue the...
Homosapien's release followed a few months later, before his fans' shock had dissipated.

Hieroglyphics Dot Com: Features - Deltron 3030
The album is extensively produced, not only in the sense of beat-composition in which Automator has done a splendid job with, but in which everything is presented; the story wrapped and maintained, the mixing of sounds so preciously placed.
The album evokes a sense of awe; a truly believable tale, undoubtedly meant to be played from beginning to end.
The album's aura is wrapped in a dark and desolate feel, where everyone is still bent on becoming an emcee, and old Canadian beer commercials are considered visual masterpieces in art.

This debut album by the Crystal Method was overplayed and commercialized so much that people kinda thought of them as a dance band when they were more than that.

The album was met with critical acclaim, obtaining radio and video play nationwide.
The album was a complete turn around from his previous effort, bringing forth darker and much harder beats, as well as a vastly original lyrical flare which we had a taste of two years prior on his b-side, "Eye Examination".
Although the album did not live up to the expectations of Elektra Records, Del fans worldwide began to bond together and were soon evolving into a tribe of Hiero Heads.

Del The Funky Homosapien - Future Development - Hip_Hop CD Review at TheCelebrityCafe.com
The brand of rapping brought to the table by Del on this album is thought provoking, intelligent and definitely unique — all par for the course for any of his work.
You may recognize Prince Paul's name, as he's produced albums such as De La Soul's classic "3 Feet High and Rising." On this album, the beats on each track are easy to listen to, and in some places could even be considered quirky, which make them a perfect complement to Del's quirky lyrics.
Compared to Del's other albums, the subject matter of this one is relatively tame.

It wasn't the mainstream debut album that the label loved, it was the first 'Del' album that really embodied the personality and range of the artist that was beginning to establish a cult following.
Del's third album, this album, Future Development was conceived as a reaction to the times following the release of his second album.
Future Development was very much a statement against the established record industry and Del would not budge or give in to their collaborative suggestions or hints at improving the album, so the album was left out to dry as Del was finally dropped from the Elektra Label.

That means that roughly half of this album is exceptionally redundant in subject matter, and it's not a subject that I'm particularly concerned with.
I won't go into too much on this album other then that Del talks waaaaay too much about wack mcs and taking them down, which kind of makes the album sound repetitive but other then that everything about the album is dope, dope dope.
The only gripe I have with this CD is that Del takes up 75% of the album covering the same subject matter of taking out wack MCs now I dont mind this when its done creatively but here it gets a little boring other than that this album diserves nothing less than four mics.

Del tha Funkee Homosapien (born Teren Delvon Jones) hit the hip-hop scene at 18, writing lyrics for his cousin Ice Cube's group da Lench Mob.
In 1991 Cube convinced Elektra to put out Del's first album, "I Wish My Brother George Was Here." The album was heavily stamped with Ice Cube's trademark sounds, and Del's clever sense of humor and rambling lyrical style scored him a hit ("Mistadobolina").
Del didn't want to ride on his cousin's coattails though, so he cut ties with Ice Cube for his next album, 1994's "No Need For Alarm." The album was a personal success for Del's independent creativity, but Elektra was unimpressed and eventually dropped tha Funkee Homosapien.

When you hear Del talk about the Hieroglyphics crew one point stands out loud and clear, "we're not just thinking about what we want to express, we're thinking about what people want to hear, as well." Maybe this is why Hiero, and Del in particular, have been such fan favorites over the years.

Homosapien was Buzzcocks frontman Pete Shelley's 1981 debut solo album, the title-track of which was released as a UK single the same year.

Fast 'n' Bulbous Reviews: ShelleyDevoto * Buzzkunst (Cooking Vinyl, 2002)
Perhaps because Shelley is still writing, recording and performing with the Buzzcocks, Devoto handled all the lyrical and vocal duties, except for the thrashy punk of "Til the Stars In His Eyes Are Dead," where they combatively trade verses.
Given how worlds apart the music is from the Buzzcocks, it would be hard to believe Shelley contributed anything at all if it weren't for his drum-machine based synth pop album, Homosapien (1981).
The album ends with the über-funky "Going Off." It's a statement of purpose that boldly declares these two middle-aged men have creative juices to spare indefinitely: "We are the future, we're going off/there is a name for the meaning and threat/we're just about as far from death as you get".
