Opinions on the morality of homosexuality, bisexuality, etc., especially in contrast to views on heterosexuality, vary strongly among different cultures, time periods, and belief systems.

This perception of homosexuality as a disease can in part be explained with psychology's roots in the theories of Sigmund Freud, who believed that early childhood influences determined the later sexual orientation of a person.

Rent discrimination, for example, to homosexual couples is, in my view, a very just and rightful form of discrimination which Christians not only can, but should, exercise, refusing for instance to rent apartments or rooms to persons who are obviously in an intrinsically disordered arrangement in regard to their sexual lives.

Although, as we noted, the Church makes a distinction between the homosexual orientation and homosexual acts, this may not justify the error of those who would sever the deep unity that exists between the person and his or her acts.
Since homosexual acts, by their very nature, will always fall radically short of the normative moral standard, the Church can no more change its teaching on this matter and accept “homosexual marriage” (as some are urging),27 than it could change its teaching on the nature of the dignity of the human person.

In part because of certain widely held moral beliefs, gays face possible rejection by family, friends, teachers and society at large, the fear of discrimination in school or in the workplace--even the danger of brutal physical attack.

With a growing realisation of the contrast underlying Mackie's narrow/broad conceptions of morality, there is a tendency for the law to be liberalised in the direction of allowing people with divergent values to live and let live, rather than for some to be be condemned and legally sanctioned.
We have, in Mackie's contrast between the concerns of morality in the narrow sense and those of a broader morality, an indication of the extreme case of breakdown: when social life becomes a war of all against all.
