Honda Ballade - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Honda Ballade was a compact automobile built by Honda of Japan.
After 1984, the Ballade shared most of its body panels with the Civic, except for a sportier front end, and formed the basis of the CR-X sports car and the original Rover 200.
However, the Ballade name continued to be used for a Civic-based model in South Africa, where it was used instead of Civic on locally produced versions, until 1999 and for imported versions until 2002.

From its inception in 1999 to 2003, S2000s were manufactured at Honda's Tochigi Takanezawa plant, alongside the Honda NSX supercar and Honda Insight hybrid.
Designated F22C1, the stroke of the motor was lengthened, increasing the displacement to 2.2 L. As a result, the redline was reduced to 8,200 rpm (mandated by the longer travel distance of the pistons).
At the same time as introducing the F22C1, Honda also changed the transmission gear ratios, by shortening the first four gears and lengthening the last two.

Honda doesn't pretend that the CR-V is a particularly rugged off-roader, deeming it a grass 'n' gravel machine rather than an all-out mudplugger or snowplough, but it is quite accomplished enough to meet most 4x4 buyers' needs, performs adeptly on the road, and is a practical, easy-to-own all-rounder.

Officially Mugen and Honda are independent operations and while Honda does not supply any financial support for the Formula 1 engines there is considerable technical assistance.
The company specialized in tuning Honda engines, beginning with the 1200cc Honda Civic engine but has since developed and can now design and build both two-stroke and four-stroke engines and manufacture many of the major components.
The Mugen Honda engine - codename ZA5C - was not able to show its full potential and, after Lotus closed at the end of the year, Mugen switched its engines to the Ligier team, which was then being run for Flavio Briatore by Tom Walkinshaw for drivers Olivier Panis, Martin Brundle and Aguri Suzuki.

Once again, the model was designed in collaboration with Honda (who produced the new designed-for-Europe Concerto model).
The 1.6L (1590cc) version used either a Honda D16A6 SOHC or D16A8 DOHC powerplant, while the 2.0L Rover M-Series engine unit from the 800-series followed soon afterwards (1991) in the sporty versions.
