Honda Inspire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Honda Inspire and Inspire Type S are luxury sedans introduced by Honda in 1990 and based on the Honda Accord chassis.
The first Inspire debuted in 1990 as the Accord Inspire, a sister nameplate to the Honda Vigor, then exported to the US as the Acura Vigor.
In Japan there would be four sedans between the Civic and the Legend: the Honda Accord and Honda Ascot with 4-cylinder engines mounted transversely, and the Vigor and Inspire with 5-cylinder engines mounted longitudinally.

 cars - Acura TL
The 3.5 RL (JDM Honda Legend) that debuted alongside the TL was a large car designed for a soft ride, in marked contrast to the previous two generations of Legends which were sport sedans with taut proportions.
The Inspire is basically a 7th-generation USDM Honda Accord V6 with minor trim changes, and the addition of Variable Cylinder Displacement, which shuts off half of the engine when not needed to boost fuel economy.
Honda is currently mum on the prospects of exporting the newest Acura TL to Japan, but sources point it out as highly likely, either being badged Honda Vigor (most likely) or Honda Saber.

The idea, according to Honda, is ‘to prevent collisions through risk assessment and driver warning functions and mitigate the impact on occupants and vehicle damage in the event of an accident’.
Honda claims 11.6 kpl, which is comparable to the 2400 CC four cylinder mill which powers the base Accord.

Honda's pre-crash safety technology assesses collision risk and mitigates occupant impact and vehicle damage by combining the first-ever Collision Mitigation Brake System, which warns the driver to help avoid collisions and regulates the brakes to reduce vehicle speed, with the E-Pretensioner, which automatically retracts the seatbelt before a collision occurs.
The Inspire ALMAS features a passenger seat that can be rotated with a simple operation to enable a caregiver to help a passenger in and out of the seat.

The new system will be installed in the new Inspire scheduled for release in June of this year, in combination with the "E-Pretensioner," which retracts the seatbelt in anticipation of impact.
The system also incorporates a number of functions to reduce impact on occupants in the event an impact is unavoidable, including a brake assist function that compensates for insufficient pedal pressure to reduce the speed of impact, and seatbelt control that increases seatbelt tension to hold the driver more securely in place.
Honda considers safety to be one of the most crucial issues automakers face, and as such has long been active in the fields of driver safety education, active safety (preventing collisions), and passive safety (minimizing injury in the event of a collision).

To deal with the engine vibration generated in the 3-cylinder mode, the Inspire employs an active engine mount to compress and extend in sync to the vibration frequency.
Besides, the Inspire's active anti-noise control is also adopted to eliminate the rough engine noise from the cabin.

Honda also has developed the "Honda Intelligent Driver Support System (HiDS)," which manages vehicle speed as well as the distance between cars.
Developed in response to driver demands that auto-makers help relieve the stress of driving, the system activates (or deactivates) at the push of a button and is based on the most advanced technologies currently available.
Although Honda said that HiDS is a step toward an automatic driving system coming in the future, it has been standard equipment in the Inspire Avanzare since June 2003 and an option on certain Accord and Accord wagon models since October 2002.

Motoring - Honda's VTEC motors get even smarter
TOKYO — Honda has introduced a three-litre V6 motor with the latest iteration of its i-VTEC technology, called "variable cylinder management", that allows three cylinders to freewheel when the car is cruising or little engine power is required.
Honda says the engine combines the effortless performance of a three-litre V6 while offering superior fuel economy of 8.6 litres/100km — a figure more likely to be expected from a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder motor.
The cylinder management system analyses throttle opening, vehicle speed, engine speed and gear choice to determine that the car is cruising then idles the intake and exhaust valves of the three cylinders in the rear cylinder bank.

In asia, there is no "Acura", so the same exact car over there is called a "Honda Inspire" or "Honda Saber"...changing the acuras to hondas is doing a JDM conversion, and since its the same car, u cant say that you are "downgrading" the car.
So what you're actually doing is just makin' the closest version to the Japanese car, which the average American will never get their hands on.
