But the Stream was one of those cars they almost had to send the SAS to persuade me to hand on.
Honda does top-class engineering, its quality control is beyond reproach, and when it starts getting ingenious, as with the Stream, the sky's the limit.
Another thing about the Hondas we drive is that the people who prepare them for press use, on the company's behalf, in the CARkeys neck of the woods like to turn them out at 101% of the original factory standard.

Honda has taken a ëclean-sheetí approach to the styling of the Stream and the result is a refreshingly original design that isnít readily categorised.

Honda suggests that three people can sit in comfort across the second row, but the middle one would really have to be a small child.
Remembering that the Stream being a Civic derivative, the fact that it is only available here with a 2-litre engine is a little disappointing for those who have insurance and road tax concerns.
But Honda owners have traditionally been prepared to pay a premium for their cars, believing that there is an intrinsic premium in the brand and its technologies.

Already a big hit in Japan, the stylish Stream fits into the Honda range between the new Civic, on which it is based, and the Shuttle.

Honda has put together a big Civic - or shrunken Shuttle - that is efficient and well packaged, finished to a high quality and nicely styled.

The Civic and Stream may be based on the same platform, but plonking a Type R engine into a Stream is not going to convert it into a Stream Type R. The chassis of the Civic Type R is different from normal Civics.
One thing to bear in mind is that the Stream's K20A is tuned to run with RON91 petrol (gas, fuel, whatever people calls it in their part of the world).
