	Honda VF and VFR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The VF and VFR series motorcycle was a breakthrough engine design from Honda resulting in what has come to be generally accepted by magazine reviews, year after year, to be the best all-round street bike built to-date.
		The earliest VF series engine was designated the V45 for its size (45 in³ or 748 cc), was very narrow being only 16 inches (406 mm) wide, and had perfect primary balance making for a smooth, vibration-free engine.
		1983 was a new year and a new start for the VF series of bikes, seeing the engine revised to correct the problems from the previous model year, and saw the introduction of the V65 and the Interceptor.

		Honda's next version of VTEC, VTEC-E, was used in a slightly different way; instead of optimising performance at high RPMs, it was used to increase efficiency at low RPMs.
		Apart from the Japanese market-only Honda CB400 Super Four Hyper VTEC, introduced in 1999, the first worldwide implementation of VTEC technology in a motorcycle occurred with the introduction of Honda's VFR800 sportbike in 2002.

		U.S. Honda went to fl with purple/silver stripes and silver wheels (actually the fl is a really, really dark green with a fl flip-flop translucent coat and blue pearl on top of that).

		Patterned after the FWS "Works Bike" that Steve Wise, Mike Baldwin and Freddie Spencer used to shred rear tires with regularity, this was Honda's effort to homologate an endurance racer.
		Full fairing (in fiberglass not plastic) with a single headlight lens and small vents on either side and two cute round tail lights out back, 16" front wheel & 17" rear wheel were of the NS/NSR style "Comstar" bolt together wheels, not cast (hub an rim where connected via bolted on struts), endurance racer spec.

		As reports of dead rectifier/regulator units for VFR 750s were on the increase, and I have a '97 VFR 750, I decided to have a good look at my unit and do some testing.
