Power output at Honey Lake was interrupted Tuesday morning, December 12, when an electric transmission line that connects the plant with the PG&E transmission system went out of service due to the storm that packed 100 mile per hour winds, heavy rain and snow.
Sanders and his plant crew immediately began preparing Honey Lake Power to begin delivering electricity to the fled-out local municipal utility, a task made more difficult than routine power operations because of the total lack of electricity with which to "synchronize," as is the usual electric industry practice.
He added that Honey Lake Power is pleased to demonstrate its reliability as an independent power generator during a time in which the local utility's main power source, PG&E, is unable to deliver because of the fierce winter storm.
