The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is a government authority founded on 1 April 1993 in Hong Kong from the consolidation of the Office of the Exchange Fund and the Office of the Commissioner of Banking.
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) is the holding company of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited and Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited.
Hong Kong was the worst performing major market in Asia last year, in part due to its currency peg to the U.S. dollar and its strong trading ties with that country.
