Carmelo's Yacht-Elvira, named after his wife, was built in Hongkong and never heard from when it sailed for Manila.
One of these shows junks in Hongkong harbor with the artist's yacht, the Elvira, on the left side.
The painting shows a busy port; several cascos meet the large junk to transport its goods to the land; in one, a man makes haste rowing his boat towards it.

Geographically, Hong Kong is located at the eastern side of the Pearl River Delta on the southeastern coast of China, facing the South China Sea in the south, and bordering the Guangdong Province in the north.
Under British rule, ethnic Chinese Hongkongers were allowed to join the British defence forces.
