Honorius II, né Lamberto Scannabecchi (from 1117 Cardinal Lambert of Ostia) (died February 13, 1130), was Pope from December 21, 1124 to February 13, 1130.
The name of Honorius II had also been assumed in the previous century (1061-1064) by Peter Cadalus; but he was never recognised as a legitimate pope.

He made peace with Frederick II., in accordance with which the emperor was crowned with his wife Constance in St Peters on the 22nd of November 1220, and swore to accord full liberty to the church and to undertake a crusade.
Honorius was eager to carry out the decrees of the Lateran Council of 1215 against the Albigenses and to further the crusade proclaimed by his predecessor.

Callistus II died on 13 December, 1124, and two days later the Cardinal of Ostia was elected pope, taking the name of Honorius II.
In 1125 Honorius II sent Cardinal John of Crema as legate to England, but the legate was detained a long time in Normandy by order of Henry I. He was finally permitted to proceed to England.
Shortly after his election to the papacy Honorius II excommunicated Count William of Normandy for having married a daughter of Fulco of Anjou within the forbidden degree.
