	Honorverse
		The Honorverse is the semi-official name for the setting of a military science fiction series of stories by David Weber featuring Honor Harrington, the Nelsonesque heroine in the Horatio Hornblower type of contemporary and popular book series (New releases regularly reach the New York Times best sellers list).
		Technological advances in the Honorverse have come slow and far between for most of the 500 years of the Star Kingdom of Manticore's existence, and as the series opens, the stagnation in technology leads to a similar stagnation in both strategy and military tactics.
		The grav-wave propulsion systems require "gun ports" and captains strive to position their ships to maximize their fire power by using a broadside akin to the unturreted days dominated by the warships and battleships of the Age of Sail, and like Horatio Hornblower, Honor Stephanie Harrington is a superb ship handler bordering on genius.

		With the most recent group of short stories and novels in the \"Honorverse\" Weber and his collaborators seem to be establishing three groups of characters and storylines, which they are all linked in a reasonably consistent manner into one history.
		The first main difference between \"Crown of Slaves\" and most of the other books in the Honorverse is that the main enemy is the genetic slavers, the companies who traffic in slaves (particularly Manpower) and the government officials they have bought.
		Crown of Slaves is a great spinoff story in Weber's Honorverse, and I look forward to more Honorverse novels, both in the HH series as well as with spinoff novels/siereis such as Crown of Slaves and The Shadow of Saganami.

		In this new series, Weber proves that the Honorverse is greater than Honor Harrington, and that he can write a novel that is fully as compelling as his earlier work without relying on Honor at all.
		Weber’s writing skills are on display, his characters are heroic without being superhuman, the action is at the individual ship or squadron level where the excitement is highest, and all the baggage of Honor is missing.
		Recently, however, he has written a standalone Honorverse novel with Eric Flint, and several characters and plot elements from that work were major factors in The Shadow of Saganami.

		The truly convincing characterisation and witty bantering humour that marks Weber as an exceptional writer of the Sci-Fi genre are present as always, and lighten the otherwise grim but spectacular space-warfare and devious intrigue flavoured by Eric Flint.
