 About The Hoodoo Gurus
While Gurus fans Australia-wide patiently awaited their next album with baited breath, the Hoodoo Gurus revealed in 1997 that they felt the time had come for the sun to set on the Hoodoo Gurus juggernaut.
Graciously, the Gurus promised one last grand tour, "Spit The Dummy" as it was called, to celebrate their legacy and the fans that had supported them whole-heartedly throughout the years.
To their delight, the Hoodoo Gurus decided to reform in late 2003 / early 2004 after 3/4 of the crew reunited under the moniker "the Persian Rugs" with a slightly different sound earlier in 2003, and subsequently decided to take another kick at the can as the Hoodoo Gurus.

Trying to find Hoodoo Guru material a few years ago was difficult in Canada as many of their titles had been deleted by the distributor.
The Gurus are certainly not as well known as many of their power-pop contemporaries here in the US, but they deserve to be: from space-age rock, to surf, to "cowpunk," to Stonesy rock-and-roll, to flat out pop, they manage to cover it all in the space of 40 tracks.
The Gurus have quite a breadth of material, from some rather dirty rockers on to slick pop like "Good Times." And the price--which is quite reasonable--makes it within almost anyone's budget (in fact, moreso than the one-disc import-only singles collection).

Australia has produced few bands as crazily entertaining as Sydney's Hoodoo Gurus, whose roots intersect with the early Scientists.
Wild geographically minded cave stompers like "Where Nowhere Is," "Hell for Leather," "In the Middle of the Land" and "On My Street" are happily hard-nosed and noisy; "Party Machine," which closes the LP, is virtually a tribute to the Fleshtones.
