Julia Roberts Julia Roberts (born Julie Fiona Roberts on October 28, 1967, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA) is a movie star who shot to fame during the early 1990s after starring in the romantic comedy Pretty Woman opposite Richard Gere.
This is a situation he must remedy when Captain Hook (Hoffman) returns and kidnaps his children, while his family is in London visiting Wendy during an awards ceremony held in her honor.
Captain James Hook is a fictional character, from J. Barries Peter Pan.

HOOK is a typical Steven Spielberg movie, full of the magic and wonder of Never Never Land, and the joys of childhood disappearing when we grow older.
Hook was my favorite movie when I was little, and it still brings tears to my eyes for the ending which leaves you with so many mixed feelings.
Hook himself remembers this, and uses this knowledge to steal Peter's disillusioned son away from him, an act of revenge that forces Peter to re-learn the art of having fun in order to rescue him from the despicable Hook.

While Marlin and Dory face sharks, jellyfish, a whale, and a "swirling vortex of terror," Nemo is initiated into the fellowship of aquarium fish, led by escape-driven Gill (Willem Dafoe).
Their outside ally is a pelican named Nigel (Geoffrey Rush), who could actually pick them up in his beak and carry them out to sea, but then there wouldn't be a movie.
At the end of the movie, Robbie Williams sings a cover of "Beyond the Sea" to Bobby Darin's arrangement while creatures swim around the credits, sometimes doing comic bits.

My problem is, if it's a kid's movie, go all the way.
The lost boy who took over for Peter when he left to go grow up dies pointlessly, and I think that would be fine in a different kind of movie, but it's gratuitous in the genre.
With those two exceptions, this movie is delightfully funny and moralistic and fun and well written and great.

With all the money and talent and hype that went into this film, it should have been a lot better, but it is entertaining enough to rate a passing grade, especially for Robin Williams fans.

There's some kind of crisis in Neverneverland; Captain Hook looks to be setting up a pirate dictatorship or something.
There are all kinds of wild adventures, with as many neat special effects as you can afford, an eventual confrontation with Hook, in which he is defeated but not killed, in case you want to do a sequel.

Just about stealing the movie is Angie Harmon (Abbie Carmichael on Law and Order) as Ronica Miles, assigned by CIA Director Keith David to be Cody's "handler." With a Wonder Bra doing wonders for her, Ronica strides into the boys' locker room to put Cody to work.
In the real world, the CIA would get Cody laid in hopes of overcoming his shyness, but this being a PG movie (a heavy-on-violence PG movie) they assemble a "team of experts" to coach him with amusingly contradictory, uniformly useless advice.
The spy stuff is clichéd and silly, but a serviceable excuse to hold the movie together.

As a viewer, you can almost feel the tug of the good side and the bad side on yourself as you watch "Off the Hook." The film is very good at capturing the angry machismo of urban culture, where the worst thing you can do is let somebody diss you.
Like a number of French films of the past few years (for example, "The Life of Jesus" and "Rosetta"), it uses non-actors and immerses us in a real place to give a naturalistic portrayal of a community and the people in it.
With strong performances from non-professionals close to the story and the neighborhood, "Off the Hook" homes in on the natural drama of one corner of New York and makes it into a very memorable film.

Don't be put in the boo box: the computer animation for the movie is really good, and it has really good actors (Robin Williams), but when the little girl sings...time to put down the volume just a wee bit.
The film is altogether visually appealing and the cast is charming, but the story really doesn't go anywhere, basically turning into a predictable replay of its source rather than a good continuation of it.

Comment: I like the Peter Pan story and I like Pirate movies and when I saw Hook I enjoyed it, I especially liked the scenes on Captain Hook's pirate ship and the scenes in London, and Wendy's house.

This is the best movie every and no one/thing can change my opinion of that.
