		A hook is a musical idea, a passage or phrase, that is believed to be catchy and helps the song stand out; it is "meant to catch the ear of the listener" (Covach 2005, p.71).
		The hook of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (based on an mbube folk song) is considered to be one of the catchiest of all pop hooks.
		The concept of a musical hook is itself the subject of the 1994 Blues Traveler song "Hook", in which the band ridicules itself for playing a nonsensical song reliant on a catchy hook.

		Hook: (John Williams) Long after the muddled film became an asterisk in the career of Steven Spielberg and audiences largely forgot about it, John Williams' massive score for the live action Peter Pan adventure continues to outpace many of his other scores in album sales.
		The music was also recorded in analog sound before being digitally cleaned up, and this causes some minor loss of depth in the more aggressive tracks.
		Many music fans have enjoyed this score enormously as a masterpiece that they'll treasure for the rest of their lives.

		Though intersections of politics and music have always left a bad taste in my mouth, a free, multi-band show is an opportunity I can't pass up, and so last Saturday afternoon found me making my way to the Old Michie Building courtyard for the "International Day of Action" entitled Bands Against Bush.
		The first tune I heard in its entirety had the sonically pleasing hook of switching between 4/4 picked guitar verses to disco-triplet choruses and back again, and when the drummer finally let loose at the song's completion, and Hoffman's vocals equally cast off their shackles, everything seemed to come together.
		The posted schedule announced that the next half-hour would be an open mic, and as three of the group's four members were already present, the well-titled ASAPossible took the stage-- after borrowing instruments from the next group.
