The Terror Trap: Directors: Tobe Hooper
Native Texan Tobe Hooper was born in Austin on January 25,1943.
Hooper enrolled at Austin's University of Texas in 1962 and almost immediately gravitated towards the Department of Radio-Television-Film.
Hooper's cobbled together masterpiece was shot on a low shoestring budget of $60,000, required hellish days of sweat and toil in Round Rock, TX, almost never saw the light of day...and was a phenomenal success upon release.

And there is Crocodile, Hooper's latest effort, and it should come as no surprise that it's just as forgettable as almost all of his movies, with no sign that it was directed by the man who made The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Hooper's contempt for the audience is so big, he doesn't even try to get separate stock shots representing the sheriff's helicopter to match.
We are expected to go for a movie with an unoriginal premise, executed with no passion, and constantly reminds us of not just better movies we've seen (which is bad enough), but reminds us of the many other bad rip-offs we've seen.

Plot Summary: Aging stuntman Sonney Hooper is still on top as one of the best stuntmen in the business.
'Hooper' was grand because it was Burt doing most of his own stunts, he and Sally were still an off-camera couple, and most of all, Burt was in his element, and likely so for the last time.
After 'Hooper', the gist of this Burt was really never seen again.

Hooper represents the tail end of Reynolds's popularity, the last gasp before Reynolds moved on to forgettable romantic comedies and the sheer desperation of Smokey and the Bandit II and The Cannonball Run.
The movie features three generations of stuntmen played by Brian Keith, Reynolds, and Jan-Michael Vincent, the last as a cocky young stunt-star who urges Reynolds to perform his greatest stunt ever: leaping a rocket-powered car over a wide gorge (a stunt inspired by the real-life exploits of daredevil Evel Knievel).

 the texas chainsaw massacre (2003)
Tobe Hooper's original 1974 film (see here for my shameless genuflection to it) is, for me, the great American horror movie -- even its title puts people off and carries the sweaty whiff of the drive-in.
But Hooper transformed exploitation into art, especially in the celebrated dinner scene, wherein shell-shocked victim Marilyn Burns was treated to a high-stress meal with chainsaw-wielding psycho Leatherface and his guffawing family.
It isn't stealing Hooper's movie off of my shelf and replacing it with itself, so the rehash doesn't even deserve the energy of my scorn, or the word count I've already expended on it.

 John Carpenter: Bios: Tobe Hooper
TOBE HOOPER leaped into the forefront of horror film directors in 1974 with his influential classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, an unrelenting shocker about a crazed family of Texas cannibals.
Hooper followed with 1981’s The Funhouse, a stylish chiller set at a traveling carnival.
Hooper then came full circle when he directed Cannon’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, starring Dennis Hopper as a Texas Ranger obsessed with revenge against the demented cannibal family.

And, in 1978, he used his godlike power to make Hooper, a simplistic movie about an aging stuntman, into one of the finest films of the decade.
In addition to battling age and the concerns of his woman, Hooper faces a challenge to his title and manhood from a pre-Airwolf Jan-Michael Vincent as the young, up and coming stuntman.
Between stunts, Hooper is filled with some serious drinking, a good old-fashioned bar brawl and Burt just being Burt.

The timing is exactly right, as we bought the truck early in 1978, the movie was released in the spring of 1978, but obviously it was filmed during the year of 1977 when the truck was newly delivered to the dealer.
Just thought you'd get a kick out of knowing that your truck most likely IS the truck in the movie and you're right, film color is definitely not a factor in determining this.
