This is a chimney like structure that was built with another near Haddington, East Lothian, to unite two parts of a large estate on each side of the Firth of Forth.
The monument was built in 1825 in the memory of Sir John Hope, the 4th Earl of Hopetoun.
On the day of our visit the access door to the top of the monument was locked.

Take the road uphill for 1 km till you see the signpost for the path up to the monument on the left.
Follow waymarks across fields, on tracks, leaving gates as you find them, keeping dogs under close control, as you are likely to meet with farm animals.
A short path to the right takes you to the monument, locked for safety reasons.

The twitcher climbed the monument I was happy to wait at the bottom and admire the view from there!
Found the cache very easily, it had been uncovered, so we left it a bit better concealed.

 Fremantle Fisherman's monument
The Department for Planning and Infrastructure, which manages the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour in close consultation with the local fishing industry, provided $110,000 to the memorial jetty from the Small Craft Facilities Trust Fund.
The monument was designed by local artists Jon Tarry and Greg James.
