HORACE A.W. The old adage, "Truth is stranger than fiction," finds exemplification in this, the most famous of the men who crossed the plains in 1859 and became the pioneers in the development of the mining resources of Colorado.
Horace A.W. Tabor was born in Orleans County, VT, November 26, 1830, and in early life acquired habits of industry and perseverance.
Horace Austin Warner Tabor took ill with appendicitis in April of 1899 and died two months before this biographical description was published.

Holley left Lexington for New Orleans in 1827 and died shortly thereafter of yellow fever contracted on a sea voyage from that city to New York.
Mary Holley, a first cousin of Stephen F. Austin, resided thereafter in Lexington, New Orleans, and Texas, and took an active interest in promotion of Texas's independence.
