		In 1965 Michael Leier founded his company in Horitschon, Burgenland, with the opening of a "SPAR" retail store; in 1970 he started to produce building materials; in 1980 a second factory was established in Frauenkirchen.
		Step by step, the first factory in Horitschon developed into one of the most acclaimed enterprises in Burgenland, and it now functions as the central administration office for all of Leier's national and international activities.
		Whereas the headquarter in Horitschon produces the whole assortment of surface construction materials, notably the "Monolit 3D" lightweight thermal insulation block and products for garden design, the factory in Frauenkirchen specialized in the production of paving stone-systems.

		Back in the eighties, long before the wine scandal and the ensuing revolution of the industry, Weninger had determined certain standards for his estate in Horitschon in central Burgenland, Austria, among them: reduction of yield, strict selection at the vineyard, and slow aging in wooden barrels.
		When Franz Weninger took over the seven-hectare estate from his parents in 1982, wine from the estate was still, for the most part, being sold directly by the barrel to the bulk purchaser.
