Hornet Stadium, home to the Sacramento State track and field and football programs and located in the A.G. Spanos Sports Complex, currently seats over 21,000.
Thanks to a generous donation by local businessman Alex G. Spanos, Hornet Stadium has seen more than $2 million in renovations since 1998 and has become one of the true centers of the track and field world.
Hornet Stadium has a red 400 meter oval, constructed by Mondo, USA Inc. and surfaced with Mondo Sportflex Super X. The facility has nine 1.22 meter wide lanes on the oval and nine lanes on the finish line side straight-away.

The stadium remains the University’s most impressive athletic facility and one of the largest in the Big Sky Conference.
Hornet Stadium hosted its first Hornet football game September 5, 1992 against Montana State, the first Division I football opponent ever to play at Sacramento State.
The Gold Miners began play in Hornet Stadium in June of 1993 following minor renovations to the facility, including a new playing surface and the removal of end zone seating to accommodate the large CFL field.

Hornet Field has now been officially renamed Fred Anderson Field after CSUS administrators retracted their demand to take down the sign erected by the alumni sports booster club.
Fred Anderson donated $2.5 million to Hornet Stadium to be used for stadium improvements in the early 1990’s.

Last year the Hornets had their best-ever season in the I-AA ranks with a 7-4 finish overall and 5-3 mark in the Big Sky that tied Eastern, Portland State and Weber State for second.
The Hornets were graced the past four years with running back Charles Roberts, who finished his brilliant career as the leading all-time rusher in I-AA with 6,553 yards.
The Hornets led by 12 with 1:08 left to play in the third quarter when Levingston's 90-yard return pulled Eastern to within 22-17 and gave the Eagles new life entering the decisive fourth quarter.

Hornet fans are very responsive and supportive of the band and always gives us a loud applause and cheer at the end.
